Recovery from Foot & Mouth Disease
Broughton is a market town at the centre of an area rich in agricultural and industrial history. Foot and mouth disease has threatened the livelihood of farmers, shopkeepers, publicans, accommodation providers, artists and craftspeople among others, and Broughton is leading the way to recovery. We need to attract visitors back to our enchanting corner of the Lake District overlooking the Duddon Estuary, we can offer an outlet for producers who have been left high and dry due to cancellation of shows, and we must provide a meeting place for those who have been isolated in farmsteads. Rural Markets will be held in the Hall on the second Sunday of each month.
Monthly Rural Markets
Broughton Country Fairs are held in the Victory Hall on the second Sunday of each month, from 10.45am to 4pm for trades, crafts, arts, interest, produce and refreshments.
Broughton Country Fairs are ideal for a fund raising stall for your organisation or project. The aim of the Country Fairs is to revitalise the economy of Broughton and District by giving our producers an outlet and encouraging visitors to come here. Anyone who can help is welcome to join Broughton-in-Furness & District Community 2003 whether from an organisation or as an individual.
